Daniel CohanDaniel Cohan
Daniel Cohan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University. His research specializes in the development of photochemical models and their application to air quality management, uncertainty analysis, satellite data, energy policy, and health impact studies. He received a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Chemistry from Georgia Tech, and served as a Fulbright Scholar to Australia at the Cooperative Research Centre for Southern Hemisphere Meteorology. Dr. Cohan is a recipient of a National Science Foundation CAREER young investigator award and was a member of the NASA Air Quality Applied Sciences Team. He is also a contributing writer for The Hill and The Conversation. »

Postdoctoral Research Associates and Research Scientists

Rui ZhangRui Zhang
Dr. Rui Zhang was a postdoctoral research associate whose research focused on developing approaches to integrate satellite data with biogenic emissions models and atmospheric models to characterize the biogenic and anthropogenic influences on air quality as well as human health. He completed his Ph.D in Applied Mathematics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2010 and worked as a research associate in the Laboratory for Atmospheric Research at Washington State University from 2011-2014. Dr. Zhang now works as an atmospheric modeler for the National Park Service in Colorado.
Beata CzaderBeata Czader
Dr. Beata Czader was a Research Scientist specializing in atmospheric modeling and chemical mechanisms. Her research focused on high-order sensitivity analysis of ozone and particulate matter response to emission controls, and on emissions of methane and ethane in the Houston region. Beata completed her Ph.D. and served as a postdoctoral scholar and research associate at the University of Houston.

Graduate Students

Quazi RasoolQuazi Rasool
Quazi Rasool is a graduate student focusing on modeling emissions from soils and their impacts on ozone and particulate matter. Quazi completed his M.S. degree at the Indian Institute of Technology - Kanpur.
Brian Strasert
Brian Strasert completed his M.S. in 2017, modeling the air quality and health impacts of power plant emissions in Texas. Brian earlier received his B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Rice University. Brian now works for GSI Environmental. »
